Wounded Warrior Fall Hunt

For hunters in the Wiregrass, fall is nearing quickly and the much anticipated Wounded Warrior Fall Hunt is slated for October 4-7. This year’s hog hunt wraps up on Saturday, October 7 at 10 am. At the conclusion of the hunt, participants will meet back at West Beach, Lake Tholocco at noon for door prize giveaways, announcement of winners and sponsor recognition. Cost to participate in the hunt is just $25 and is open to the public. Businesses are welcome and encouraged to participate by sponsoring the hunt. Patrons can purchase $5 door prize tickets which will be available at local participating businesses in the Wiregrass and on post at Outdoor Recreation Service Center and MWR Central. Proceeds from this year’s hunt will be used to enhance the quality of life for our local Wounded Warriors. Family and MWR provides these recreational opportunities so Wounded Warriors can get back out in the great outdoors; to see families enjoying the lake, and Soldiers hunting and fishing without limitations due to the lack of equipment for their needs. Monies raised from the previous years’ hunts has provided funding to purchase a mobile tracked wheelchair, hydraulic hunting stands, customized boat and many other items that Outdoor Recreation makes readily available for Wounded Warriors’ recreational needs. People can become involved in supporting the hunt by registering to hunt and  volunteering. Businesses can participate by sponsoring the hunt. Patrons can purchase door prize tickets which will be available at local participating businesses in the Wiregrass and on post. Participants must have a valid Alabama State hunting license and a Hunter Safety Education Course Completion Card and a Fort Rucker post hunting permit.
